Prune Bread Pudding
Ingredients
- 1 lb stoned and stewed prunes
- 3/4 lb Allinson bread and butter, thinly sliced
- 3 eggs
- 1 pint milk
- Sugar to taste
Method
- 1 Grease a pie dish. Line the bottom with a layer of bread and butter slices.
- 2 Arrange a layer of stewed prunes over the bread. Repeat layers until the dish is full, finishing with bread and butter.
- 3 Pour a little prune juice over the layers. Beat eggs with milk and sugar, then pour the custard over the mixture.
- 4 Let soak for 1 hour. Bake for 1 hour. Optionally, pour off liquid once or twice during baking and spoon it back over.
