Preserved Pippin Apples In Spiced Syrup

- Pippin apples
- Water
- Sugar
- Orange peel
- Cinnamon sticks
- Cloves
Method
- 1 Boil apples in water until tender, then remove, peel, and place in an earthen pot to cool.
- 2 Make syrup by boiling water and sugar, skimming until clean, then let cool slightly.
- 3 Add apples to the syrup. If available, add orange peel; otherwise, use cinnamon and cloves.
- 4 Boil gently together to preserve the apples for long-term storage.
