Potato Au Gratin
Ingredients
- 1 pint cold boiled potatoes, diced
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 tablespoon flour
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup milk
- 1 scant cup fine dry bread crumbs
- 1 tablespoon melted butter
Method
- 1 Melt 1 tablespoon butter in a saucepan. Whisk in 1 tablespoon flour, salt, and pepper. Cook until mixed.
- 2 Stir in 1 cup milk and cook until smooth and thick. Add diced potatoes and simmer for 5 minutes.
- 3 Pour mixture into a buttered shallow baking dish. Top with bread crumbs mixed with 1 tablespoon melted butter.
- 4 Bake in a hot oven (425°F) until the crumbs are golden brown. Serve hot.
