Polenta With Sausages And Gravy
Ingredients
- 1 lb cornmeal (preferably granular)
- 1 ½ quarts water
- Salt to taste
- 1 piece butter
- 1 ½ cups milk
- 1 tbsp olive oil or small piece butter
- Sausages
- 2-3 bay leaves (optional)
Method
- 1 Bring 1 ½ quarts of salted water to a boil in a large pot.
- 2 Slowly whisk in the cornmeal, stirring constantly with a wooden spoon to prevent lumps.
- 3 When the polenta is half cooked, add the butter and slowly stir in the milk.
- 4 While polenta cooks, heat olive oil or butter in a saucepan. Add pricked sausages and bay leaves, cooking until done.
- 5 Pour the hot polenta into a serving dish. Create a well in the center and fill it with the cooked sausages and their gravy. Serve immediately.
