Poached Pears With Reduced Syrup
Ingredients
- 1 quart peeled, cored, and quartered pears
- ½ cup sugar
- 1 cup water
- cream, for serving
Method
- 1 Place pears, sugar, and water in an earthen baking dish.
- 2 Cover tightly and bake in a moderate oven (350°F) for several hours until tender.
- 3 Remove pears and boil the remaining syrup rapidly to reduce.
- 4 Pour the reduced syrup over the pears, chill, and serve with cream.
