Poached Oranges In Orange Syrup

Ingredients

  • 2 oranges
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 orange, juiced
  • 1 tbsp apple jelly (optional)

Method

  1. 1 Peel the oranges, removing the white pith but leaving some zest. Cut the fruit into quarters.
  2. 2 Place the orange quarters in boiling water and cook until tender enough for a pin to pierce the rind easily. Drain well.
  3. 3 In a separate pot, boil sugar with enough water to create a simple syrup. Add the drained oranges and orange juice.
  4. 4 Simmer until the syrup is smooth and coats the fruit. Stir in apple jelly if using. Let cool and serve on plates.
