Plum Orange Walnut Conserve

Ingredients

  • 4 pounds plums
  • 1 cup seeded raisins
  • 2 oranges, sliced very fine
  • ¾ cup sugar per cup of fruit mixture
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • ½ pound walnuts, chopped

Method

  1. 1 Wash plums and remove stones. Slice oranges very fine.
  2. 2 Combine plums, raisins, and sliced oranges in a kettle. Add ¾ cup sugar for every cup of fruit mixture and the lemon juice.
  3. 3 Cook slowly for about 45 minutes, stirring frequently to prevent burning, until the mixture is thick.
  4. 4 Stir in chopped walnuts. Pour the hot conserve into sterilized jars and seal.
