Plain Currant Cake

Ingredients

  • 1 lb flour
  • ½ lb beef dripping
  • ½ lb currants
  • ½ pint milk
  • ½ lb sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder

Method

  1. 1 Rub the dripping into the flour until it resembles breadcrumbs.
  2. 2 Add the sugar, currants, and baking powder, mixing well.
  3. 3 Mix in the milk to form a thick batter.
  4. 4 Pour into a well-greased cake tin.
  5. 5 Bake for 1 hour and 15 minutes.
