Plain Baked Doughnuts

Ingredients

  • 4 cups flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ nutmeg, grated
  • 2 eggs, well-beaten
  • oil for deep frying

Method

  1. 1 Sift baking powder into flour.
  2. 2 Dissolve sugar in milk, then add salt, nutmeg, and beaten eggs.
  3. 3 Combine wet and dry mixtures to form a dough.
  4. 4 Roll out dough, cut into rings, and fry in deep fat until golden.
  5. 5 Drain fried doughnuts on brown paper.
