Pickled White Onions With Horseradish

Ingredients

  • 1 lb small white onions
  • 1 cup boiling milk
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 2 cups strong vinegar
  • 1 slice mace
  • 1 tsp ground ginger
  • 1 tsp white mustard seed
  • 1 tsp freshly grated horseradish

Method

  1. 1 Peel the small white onions.
  2. 2 Pour boiling milk and water over the onions and let them cool completely.
  3. 3 Place the cooled onions in a jar.
  4. 4 Combine vinegar, mace, ginger, mustard seed, and horseradish in a saucepan.
  5. 5 Bring the mixture to a boil and pour it hot over the onions in the jar.
