Pickled White Onions With Horseradish
Ingredients
- 1 lb small white onions
- 1 cup boiling milk
- 1 cup boiling water
- 2 cups strong vinegar
- 1 slice mace
- 1 tsp ground ginger
- 1 tsp white mustard seed
- 1 tsp freshly grated horseradish
Method
- 1 Peel the small white onions.
- 2 Pour boiling milk and water over the onions and let them cool completely.
- 3 Place the cooled onions in a jar.
- 4 Combine vinegar, mace, ginger, mustard seed, and horseradish in a saucepan.
- 5 Bring the mixture to a boil and pour it hot over the onions in the jar.
