Pecan And Walnut Cake

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup Crisco
  • 4 egg whites
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 cup chopped pecans or English walnut meats
  • 1/2 cup milk

Method

  1. 1 Cream Crisco and sugar together in a bowl.
  2. 2 Sift dry ingredients (flour, salt, baking powder) and add to the creamed mixture, alternating with the milk.
  3. 3 Add nuts and vanilla extract, mixing until combined.
  4. 4 Beat egg whites to stiff peaks and fold them into the batter.
  5. 5 Pour into a greased and floured cake pan.
  6. 6 Bake in a 350°F oven for 35 minutes.
