Peach Layer Cake With Almond Frosting

Ingredients

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup milk
  • 5 eggs
  • 3 cups flour
  • 3/4 cup Crisco
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • Butter for spreading
  • Peaches, quartered and sweetened

Method

  1. 1 Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease two round layer tins with Crisco.
  2. 2 Cream Crisco and sugar together until light and fluffy.
  3. 3 Add milk and eggs one by one, beating well after each addition.
  4. 4 Sift flour with baking powder and salt; fold into the batter along with almond extract.
  5. 5 Divide batter evenly between tins and bake for 20 minutes.
  6. 6 Turn cakes out, spread layers with butter, and fill/cover with sweetened quartered peaches.
