Pan Fried Herrings
Ingredients
- Herrings, cleaned
- Salt
- Pepper
- Flour
- Frying fat
Method
- 1 Lightly sprinkle herrings with salt and pepper 2-3 hours before cooking.
- 2 Wipe herrings dry and coat them in flour.
- 3 Heat frying fat in a pan until it covers the fish.
- 4 Fry herrings quickly at first, then moderate heat, for 10-12 minutes until crisp and brown.
- 5 Drain on a dish to remove excess fat before serving.
