Pan Fried Beetroot With Butter Sauce

  • 1 medium beetroot
  • 2 ounces butter
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 teaspoons flour
  • 2 tablespoons vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon water

Method

  1. 1 Peel the beetroot and slice it into 1/4-inch thick rounds.
  2. 2 Melt the butter in a frying pan over medium heat.
  3. 3 Add the beetroot slices and fry for 20 minutes, sprinkling with salt and pepper.
  4. 4 Remove the beetroot and set aside on a hot plate.
  5. 5 In the same pan, stir in flour to make a roux and cook for 2 minutes.
  6. 6 Whisk in water and vinegar until smooth, then pour the sauce over the beetroot and serve.
