Orange Sponge Cake
Ingredients
- 3 eggs
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup Crisco
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/4 cups flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon orange extract
- 1/2 cup cold water
Method
- 1 Cream Crisco, salt, beaten egg yolks, and sugar; beat for five minutes.
- 2 Mix in orange extract and cold water.
- 3 Beat egg whites to stiff peaks.
- 4 Alternately add the egg whites and flour mixture (sifted with baking powder) to the batter.
- 5 Divide batter into greased and floured gem pans.
- 6 Bake in a moderate oven (350°F) for 15 minutes.
