Orange Marmalade Drop Biscuits
Ingredients
- 2 cups bread flour
- 5 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons shortening
- 7/8 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon orange marmalade
Method
- 1 Sift together flour, baking powder, and salt.
- 2 Work in shortening with fingertips.
- 3 Add milk and stir with a knife until combined.
- 4 Toss on a floured surface and roll out to ¼ inch thick.
- 5 Cut into oval shapes 6 inches long and 3 inches wide.
- 6 Make ½-inch cuts 1 inch from and parallel with the ends.
- 7 Place 1 teaspoon of orange marmalade in the center.
- 8 Bring one end of dough through the hole in the other end and press edges together.
- 9 Bake at 450°F for 15 minutes.
