Orange Ladyfingers
Ingredients
- 3 large egg whites
- 1/3 cup powdered sugar
- 2 large egg yolks
- 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/8 tsp salt
- 1 orange, juiced
- powdered sugar for filling
Method
- 1 Preheat oven to 300°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- 2 Beat egg whites until stiff and dry. Gradually add 1/3 cup powdered sugar, beating until glossy.
- 3 Beat egg yolks until thick and lemon-colored, then fold into the meringue along with vanilla.
- 4 Sift flour and salt together, then gently fold into the batter until just combined.
- 5 Pipe or spoon mixture into 4.5-inch oblong shapes on the prepared sheet.
- 6 Bake for 20-25 minutes until dry and firm. Cool completely on a wire rack.
