Orange Custard Pudding

Ingredients

  • 4 large oranges, sliced thin
  • Sugar (for sprinkling oranges)
  • 1 pint milk
  • 3 egg yolks
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 3 egg whites, beaten
  • 1/2 cup sugar (for frosting)
  • Whipped cream (optional, for serving)

Method

  1. 1 Slice oranges thin and sprinkle with sugar.
  2. 2 Make a boiled custard by heating milk, egg yolks, salt, cornstarch, and 3 tablespoons sugar until thickened.
  3. 3 Allow the custard to cool completely.
  4. 4 Pour the cooled custard over the sugared oranges.
  5. 5 Cover with beaten egg whites and 1/2 cup sugar.
  6. 6 Serve cold, optionally topped with whipped cream.
