Orange Custard Pudding
Ingredients
- 4 large oranges, sliced thin
- Sugar (for sprinkling oranges)
- 1 pint milk
- 3 egg yolks
- Pinch of salt
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 3 tablespoons sugar
- 3 egg whites, beaten
- 1/2 cup sugar (for frosting)
- Whipped cream (optional, for serving)
Method
- 1 Slice oranges thin and sprinkle with sugar.
- 2 Make a boiled custard by heating milk, egg yolks, salt, cornstarch, and 3 tablespoons sugar until thickened.
- 3 Allow the custard to cool completely.
- 4 Pour the cooled custard over the sugared oranges.
- 5 Cover with beaten egg whites and 1/2 cup sugar.
- 6 Serve cold, optionally topped with whipped cream.
