Onion Gravy For Rump Steaks
Ingredients
- 2 large onions, peeled and sliced
- 2 tbsp water
- 1/2 pint beef broth
- 1 tbsp flour
- 1 tbsp butter
- Mushroom ketchup
- Salt and pepper
Method
- 1 Place sliced onions and water in a stewpan over low heat. Cook until water evaporates and onions are lightly browned.
- 2 Add broth and simmer until onions are tender. Strain, reserving the broth, and chop the onions finely.
- 3 Thicken the reserved broth with flour and butter. Stir in chopped onions, mushroom ketchup, salt, and pepper.
- 4 Simmer the gravy gently for 5 minutes. Pour over broiled rump steaks and serve immediately.
