Onion Gravy For Rump Steaks

Ingredients

  • 2 large onions, peeled and sliced
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 1/2 pint beef broth
  • 1 tbsp flour
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • Mushroom ketchup
  • Salt and pepper

Method

  1. 1 Place sliced onions and water in a stewpan over low heat. Cook until water evaporates and onions are lightly browned.
  2. 2 Add broth and simmer until onions are tender. Strain, reserving the broth, and chop the onions finely.
  3. 3 Thicken the reserved broth with flour and butter. Stir in chopped onions, mushroom ketchup, salt, and pepper.
  4. 4 Simmer the gravy gently for 5 minutes. Pour over broiled rump steaks and serve immediately.
