One Egg Sponge Cake

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 3 tablespoons water
  • 2/3 cup flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • pinch salt
  • 1 egg white

Method

  1. 1 In a mixing bowl, cream together the sugar, egg yolk, and butter until well combined.
  2. 2 Add the water, flour, baking powder, and salt; beat until mixed.
  3. 3 Fold in the stiffly beaten egg white.
  4. 4 Pour into a well-greased and floured pan and bake in a slow oven (300°F) for 30 minutes.
