Oatmeal Macaroons
Ingredients
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon melted shortening
- ¾ teaspoon salt
- 2½ cups rolled oats
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Method
- 1 Beat egg yolks and whites separately.
- 2 Cream sugar with shortening, then add egg yolks, salt, and rolled oats.
- 3 Mix in baking powder, beaten egg whites, and vanilla until thoroughly combined.
- 4 Drop spoonfuls onto greased baking sheets, leaving space for spreading.
- 5 Bake in a moderate oven (350°F) for about 10 minutes.
