Oatmeal Gruel With Toast And Raisins
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons oatmeal
- Water (as needed to mix)
- 1 pint boiling water
- Sugar to taste
- Nutmeg to taste
- 1 slice toasted bread, cut up (or dried rusk)
- Raisins, stoned and chopped (optional)
Method
- 1 Mix oatmeal with a small amount of water to form a smooth paste.
- 2 Stir the paste into a pint of boiling water in a saucepan until smooth.
- 3 Boil for a few minutes, then season with sugar and nutmeg.
- 4 Pour over toasted bread pieces or dried rusk. Add raisins if desired.
