Nutmeg Toast Bread Pudding
Ingredients
- 4 slices toasted bread or rusks
- 3 eggs
- 1/4 lb grated cheese
- 1/8 tsp nutmeg
- 1 pint milk
- 2 oz butter
- salt and pepper to taste
Method
- 1 Beat eggs and mix with milk. Crush toast or rusks and soak in the egg mixture.
- 2 Add cheese, nutmeg, and seasoning. Dissolve half the butter and mix into the ingredients.
- 3 Butter a pie dish, pour in the mixture, and scatter remaining butter pieces on top.
- 4 Bake for 1 hour or until well set. Serve hot or cold.
