Nutmeg Toast Bread Pudding

Ingredients

  • 4 slices toasted bread or rusks
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/4 lb grated cheese
  • 1/8 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 pint milk
  • 2 oz butter
  • salt and pepper to taste

Method

  1. 1 Beat eggs and mix with milk. Crush toast or rusks and soak in the egg mixture.
  2. 2 Add cheese, nutmeg, and seasoning. Dissolve half the butter and mix into the ingredients.
  3. 3 Butter a pie dish, pour in the mixture, and scatter remaining butter pieces on top.
  4. 4 Bake for 1 hour or until well set. Serve hot or cold.
