Nutmeg Pound Cake
Ingredients
- 4 oz butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 4 egg yolks
- 3 cups flour
- 4 tsp baking powder
- 1 cup milk
- 1 tsp nutmeg
- 1 egg white, stiffly beaten
Method
- 1 Cream butter and sugar in a warm bowl until light and frothy.
- 2 Add egg yolks and beat well for ten minutes.
- 3 Add flour, baking powder, milk, and nutmeg; beat hard for fifteen minutes.
- 4 Carefully fold in the stiffly beaten egg white.
- 5 Pour into a prepared pan and bake in a slow oven (300°F) for 60 minutes.
