Nutmeg Pound Cake

Ingredients

  • 4 oz butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 4 egg yolks
  • 3 cups flour
  • 4 tsp baking powder
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 egg white, stiffly beaten

Method

  1. 1 Cream butter and sugar in a warm bowl until light and frothy.
  2. 2 Add egg yolks and beat well for ten minutes.
  3. 3 Add flour, baking powder, milk, and nutmeg; beat hard for fifteen minutes.
  4. 4 Carefully fold in the stiffly beaten egg white.
  5. 5 Pour into a prepared pan and bake in a slow oven (300°F) for 60 minutes.
