Nut Cake
Ingredients
- 1½ cups sugar
- ½ cup butter
- 3 eggs, separated
- 2½ cups flour
- 1 cup chopped nut meats
- 2 tsp baking powder
- ¾ cup milk
- a little salt
Method
- 1 Rub butter and sugar together until light and creamy.
- 2 Add egg yolks and beat until smooth.
- 3 Sift flour, salt, and baking powder, then add to the mixture along with milk, beating well.
- 4 Fold in chopped nuts and stiffly beaten egg whites.
- 5 Pour into two 9-inch cake pans or one loaf pan.
- 6 Bake at 350°F for 30 minutes for layer cake or 1 hour for loaf cake.
