Molded Sugar Fondant Balls
Ingredients
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 9 tablespoons water
- 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
- Flavoring and coloring of choice
- Nuts (optional)
Method
- 1 Combine sugar and water in a saucepan and bring to a boil.
- 2 Add cream of tartar; do not stir after boiling begins.
- 3 Boil for four minutes, then test by dropping syrup into water to see if it forms a soft ball.
- 4 Remove from heat and let cool until the surface wrinkles when touched.
- 5 Stir vigorously until the mixture thickens and can be molded by hand.
- 6 Add flavoring and coloring, then mold into shapes or roll into balls.
- 7 Place on greased parchment paper to set.
