Molasses Walnut Bread
Ingredients
- 2 cups white flour, sifted
- 2 cups graham or whole wheat flour, sifted
- ½ cup New Orleans molasses
- salt to taste
- 2 cups milk or water
- 1 cup walnut meats, cut up fine
- 1 teaspoon soda dissolved in milk
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
Method
- 1 Combine flours, molasses, salt, milk or water, walnuts, soda mixture, and melted butter in a large bowl.
- 2 Mix well and let the batter rise for 20 minutes.
- 3 Pour into a greased loaf pan and bake in a moderate oven (350°F) for about one hour.
