Molasses Hard Candy
Ingredients
- 2 cups brown sugar
- 1/4 cup molasses
- 5 tablespoons Crisco
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Method
- 1 Dissolve sugar in water in a saucepan over heat.
- 2 Add Crisco, molasses, and salt; boil until the mixture forms a hard ball in cold water or reaches 254°F.
- 3 Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
- 4 Pour into a Crisco-greased tin and let cool completely.
- 5 Break the cooled candy into rough pieces.
