Molasses Graham Bread
Ingredients
- 1 cup milk
- 1 cup water
- 1 ½ cups white flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 yeast cake
- ½ cup Porto Rico molasses
- Graham flour, as needed
Method
- 1 Scald the milk, add 1 cup boiling water, and let cool until lukewarm.
- 2 Combine lukewarm milk mixture, flour, salt, and dissolved yeast in a pan. Beat well.
- 3 In the morning, stir in molasses and enough Graham flour to knead. Let rise 3 hours.
- 4 Knead again, shape into loaves, and let rise in a warm place until light.
- 5 Bake in a moderate oven (350°F) for nearly 1 hour.
