Molasses Gingerbread With Raisins

Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon mace
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/2 cup HEBE diluted with 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 cup seedless raisins
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup corn syrup
  • 1/2 cup molasses

Method

  1. 1 Sift flour, salt, soda, and spices into a bowl.
  2. 2 Melt HEBE, water, sugar, butter, syrup, and molasses together.
  3. 3 Cool the mixture slightly, then add to dry ingredients along with the beaten egg and raisins.
  4. 4 Pour into a greased and floured cake tin.
  5. 5 Bake in a moderate oven (350°F) for one hour.
