Molasses Gingerbread With Raisins
Ingredients
- 2 cups flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon mace
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1/2 cup HEBE diluted with 2 tablespoons water
- 1 cup seedless raisins
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/2 cup corn syrup
- 1/2 cup molasses
Method
- 1 Sift flour, salt, soda, and spices into a bowl.
- 2 Melt HEBE, water, sugar, butter, syrup, and molasses together.
- 3 Cool the mixture slightly, then add to dry ingredients along with the beaten egg and raisins.
- 4 Pour into a greased and floured cake tin.
- 5 Bake in a moderate oven (350°F) for one hour.
