Molasses Bread Crumb Fritters
Ingredients
- 1 cup flour
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 cup fine bread crumbs
- 1½ cups milk
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 tablespoon molasses
- powdered sugar for serving
- lemon juice for serving
- hard sauce for serving
- oil for frying
Method
- 1 Sift together flour, salt, and baking powder in a bowl.
- 2 Add bread crumbs, then slowly stir in the milk.
- 3 Mix in the well-beaten egg, butter, and molasses until combined.
- 4 Fry spoonfuls of batter in deep hot fat until golden brown.
- 5 Serve hot with powdered sugar, lemon juice, or hard sauce.
