Mini Meat Pies

Ingredients

  • scraps of cold meat
  • gravy
  • pepper and salt
  • pastry
  • 1 egg

Method

  1. 1 Mince the meat and moisten with gravy, adding pepper and salt to taste. If using veal or chicken, mince a little ham and add a few drops of lemon juice.
  2. 2 Roll out the pastry and stamp into rounds with a fluted cutter. Lay half the rounds on greased pattypans.
  3. 3 Brush the edges of the pastry rounds with beaten egg, place a spoonful of the meat mixture on each, and cover with remaining pastry rounds, pressing edges to seal.
  4. 4 Glaze the tops with beaten egg and bake in a 400°F oven for about 15 minutes.
