Mincemeat Pie With Egg Wash

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 2 tsp sugar
  • 3/4 cup shortening
  • 6 tbsp water
  • 1.5 lbs mincemeat
  • 1 egg, beaten

Method

  1. 1 Sift together flour, salt, baking powder, and sugar in a mixing bowl.
  2. 2 Rub in shortening, then mix with water to form a dough.
  3. 3 Divide dough, roll out, and line a pie plate with the bottom crust.
  4. 4 Fill with mincemeat, cover with top crust, and seal edges.
  5. 5 Brush with beaten egg and bake in a moderate oven (350°F) for 45 minutes.
