Milk Pie With Meringue

Ingredients

  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 tsp flour
  • 3 egg yolks
  • Grated nutmeg, vanilla, or lemon extract
  • 1 pre-baked pie crust
  • 3 egg whites
  • 3 tbsp powdered sugar

Method

  1. 1 Beat milk, sugar, flour, and egg yolks together in a saucepan.
  2. 2 Add flavoring of choice. Boil while stirring constantly for 20 minutes until thickened.
  3. 3 Pour the hot filling into a pre-baked pie crust.
  4. 4 Beat egg whites with powdered sugar to form a meringue. Spread over the hot filling.
  5. 5 Bake until the meringue is puffed and golden brown.
