Milk Bread Rolls

Ingredients

  • 1 pint milk
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cake yeast
  • 1/2 cup lukewarm water
  • flour as needed

Method

  1. 1 Scald 1 pint of milk, then pour it over 1 tablespoon butter, 1 tablespoon sugar, and 1 teaspoon salt.
  2. 2 Let the mixture cool until nearly cold. Dissolve 1/4 cake of yeast in 1/2 cup lukewarm water and add to the milk mixture.
  3. 3 Add flour to create a stiff dough. Knead until smooth and elastic.
  4. 4 Cover the dough and let it rise overnight until morning.
  5. 5 Shape into loaves or rolls. Let rise a second time.
  6. 6 Bake loaves for 40-50 minutes and rolls for 15-20 minutes.
