Ingredients

  • small onions, peeled
  • salt and water (for soaking)
  • milk and water (for boiling)
  • double-distilled vinegar
  • 1-2 bay leaves
  • salt
  • mace

Method

  1. 1 Soak peeled onions in salted water, changing the water daily for 3 to 4 days.
  2. 2 Place onions in a pot with milk and water and bring to a boil.
  3. 3 Drain the onions and allow them to cool completely.
  4. 4 Prepare a pickle by combining vinegar, bay leaves, salt, and mace.
  5. 5 Pour the hot pickle mixture over the cooled onions.
