Marmalade Bread Pudding With Meringue
Ingredients
- 6 slices stale bread
- 1 cup fat (butter or oil)
- 2 egg yolks
- 1 tablespoon corn syrup
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup milk
- 1 cup marmalade or preserves
Method
- 1 Whisk together egg yolks, corn syrup, salt, and milk to create the custard base.
- 2 Dip bread slices in the fat and brown them in a frying pan.
- 3 Spread the browned bread with marmalade or preserves, then pile them in a baking dish.
- 4 Pour the remaining custard mixture over the bread, top with meringue, and bake for 15 minutes.
