Maple Syrup Cornmeal Bannocks

Ingredients

  • 2 cups boiling water
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons maple sugar
  • 4 tablespoons syrup
  • ¾ cup cornmeal

Method

  1. 1 Combine boiling water, salt, maple sugar, syrup, and cornmeal in a saucepan.
  2. 2 Cook until the mixture forms a thick cornmeal mush, then let it cool.
  3. 3 Spread the mixture very thin on a well-greased baking sheet.
  4. 4 Brush with melted shortening and bake in a hot oven (425°F) until done.
