Maple Spice Custard Sauce
Ingredients
- 3 tablespoons fat
- 1/3 cup maple sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1/8 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/8 teaspoon allspice
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/3 cup milk
Method
- 1 Cream the fat, maple sugar, and spices together until smooth.
- 2 Add the beaten egg yolks and milk to the mixture.
- 3 Cook in a double boiler, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens.
- 4 Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla and beaten egg whites.
- 5 Serve the sauce hot or cold.
