Maple Spice Custard Sauce

Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons fat
  • 1/3 cup maple sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/8 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon allspice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/3 cup milk

Method

  1. 1 Cream the fat, maple sugar, and spices together until smooth.
  2. 2 Add the beaten egg yolks and milk to the mixture.
  3. 3 Cook in a double boiler, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens.
  4. 4 Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla and beaten egg whites.
  5. 5 Serve the sauce hot or cold.
