Mace Pound Cake
Ingredients
- 1 ½ cups sugar
- 8 ounces shortening
- 6 egg yolks
- 5 cups sifted flour
- 3 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 ½ cups milk
- 1 teaspoon mace
- 6 egg whites
Method
- 1 Cream sugar and shortening until light and fluffy.
- 2 Add egg yolks, flour, baking powder, milk, and mace; beat for 20 minutes to blend.
- 3 Carefully fold in stiffly beaten egg whites.
- 4 Bake in a prepared pan for 80 minutes in a moderate oven (350°F).
