Macaroon Stripe Jam Tart

Ingredients

  • 3/4 lb flour
  • 5 oz sugar
  • 1/2 lb butter
  • 2 eggs
  • jam or jelly for spreading
  • icing for decoration

Method

  1. 1 Make a paste of flour, sugar, butter, and eggs. Roll out a portion to 1/4 inch thickness.
  2. 2 Press the dough into a round shallow cake pan, about 1/2 inch deep. Bake very slightly until set.
  3. 3 When cold, spread a thin layer of jam or jelly over the crust.
  4. 4 Pipe stripes of macaroon mixture over the jam using a bag and star tube.
  5. 5 Bake in a slow oven (300°F) until nice and brown. Add icing between stripes after baking.
