Lemon Orange Custard Ice Cream

Ingredients

  • 1 quart milk
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 3 large eggs, well beaten
  • Zest of 1 lemon
  • Juice of 3 lemons
  • Juice of 1 orange
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar

Method

  1. 1 In a saucepan, stir cornstarch into milk until dissolved. Bring to a boil and cook for 10 minutes.
  2. 2 Remove from heat and stir in beaten eggs. Mix thoroughly and let cool completely.
  3. 3 In a bowl, combine lemon zest, lemon juice, orange juice, and sugar. Blend well.
  4. 4 Slowly beat the lemon mixture into the cooled custard until fully combined.
  5. 5 Freeze in an ice cream maker according to manufacturer instructions. Pack and let ripen for 2 hours.
