Ingredients

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 3 cups flour
  • 6 egg whites
  • 1 teaspoon lemon extract

Method

  1. 1 Beat sugar and butter until creamy.
  2. 2 Slowly add milk and mix well.
  3. 3 Combine baking powder and flour, then gradually add to the wet mixture, mixing and beating.
  4. 4 Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites and lemon extract.
  5. 5 Pour into three round layers or a square pan and bake.
