  • 3 cups sugar
  • 1 cup butter
  • 5 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon saleratus
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 eggs
  • Peel of 1 fresh lemon, grated
  • ¼ cup brandy

Method

  1. 1 Cream together the sugar and butter until light and fluffy.
  2. 2 Beat in the eggs, then mix in the sour cream and grated lemon peel.
  3. 3 Dissolve the saleratus in the sour cream mixture if not already done, then stir in the flour and brandy to form a dough.
  4. 4 Bake in a hot oven (425°F) until golden brown.
