Layered Birthday Cake With Jelly And Nuts

- Candied rose petals or violets

Method
- 1 Bake a simple cake mixture in thin sheets in a large pan.
- 2 Cut the baked cake into graduated circles matching the child's age.
- 3 Ice each circle on the top and sides with white or tinted icing.
- 4 Stack the circles, placing layers of jelly or preserves between each slice.
- 5 Decorate each layer with fruits, nuts, candied flowers, or angelica.
- 6 Place the cake on a decorated dish and insert small flags in the top.
