Lancaster County Pie
Ingredients
- 1 cup molasses
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup boiling water
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- ½ cup butter
- pie crust for 4 pie pans
Method
- 1 Line four pie pans with pie crust.
- 2 Dissolve baking soda in molasses, then stir in boiling water.
- 3 Divide the syrup mixture evenly among the four crust-lined pans.
- 4 Mix flour, sugar, and butter to form crumbs, then sprinkle over the syrup.
- 5 Bake in a moderate oven (350°F) until set and golden.
