Laminated Crisco Pastry
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup Crisco
- 2 cups flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- cold water
Method
- 1 Mix salt with flour.
- 2 Divide Crisco into four equal parts.
- 3 Rub one part of Crisco into the flour mixture.
- 4 Mix with a little cold water to form a stiff paste.
- 5 Shape into an oblong strip about three times as long as it is broad.
- 6 Dot the surface with one quarter of the remaining Crisco in pea-sized dabs.
- 7 Lightly flour the surface and fold the paste into thirds (letter fold).
- 8 Turn the dough 90 degrees, press edges to seal air, and roll out again.
- 9 Repeat the dotting, folding, and rolling process with the remaining two parts of Crisco.
- 10 Roll to the required thickness for use.
