  • 2 lbs spring lamb
  • 1 walnut-sized piece butter
  • 3 cups boiling water
  • 3 onions
  • Salt and pepper
  • 6 peeled raw potatoes
  • 1 small head young cabbage, cut into eighths
  • 2-3 tomatoes (optional)

Method

  1. 1 Braise the lamb in butter until lightly browned.
  2. 2 Add boiling water, onions, salt, and pepper. Simmer slowly for 30 minutes.
  3. 3 Add potatoes and cabbage. Cover closely and boil slowly for at least 1 hour.
