Hot Mustard Cabbage Casserole

Ingredients

  • 1 head cabbage, finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp melted butter
  • 1 tbsp mustard
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 egg, well beaten
  • ¾ cup heavy cream
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Method

  1. 1 Finely chop the cabbage and place it in a baking dish. Pour the melted butter over the cabbage and place in a moderate oven (350°F) to heat through.
  2. 2 In a bowl, beat together the mustard, olive oil, sugar, well-beaten egg, and cream until smooth.
  3. 3 Bring the mixture to a boil while stirring constantly. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. 4 Remove the hot cabbage from the oven and pour the boiling sauce over it. Serve immediately.
