Hot Milk Molasses Gingerbread Cake

Ingredients

  • 1 cup molasses
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tsp ginger
  • 1 pint flour
  • 1/2 cup sour milk
  • 1 tsp soda
  • 1 egg

Method

  1. 1 Put molasses and butter in a pan and heat on stove until mixture boils.
  2. 2 Remove from heat immediately and stir in soda and ginger.
  3. 3 Add sour milk and well-beaten egg, then add flour and beat well.
  4. 4 Pour into a shallow cake pan and bake in a quick oven (425°F) for 20 minutes.
